Skeleton of a Chaotic Attractor.

Periodic Orbits in a Chaotic Attractor. Only cycles on the topmost level of the Farey tree are shown. The rotation numbers are 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/8 and 1/9. Note that there are two cycles for each rotation number. The large crosses denote cycles which, in the conservative limit, are elliptic and destabilized by period-doubling, i.e., by emitting period-doubled orbits. The small crosses denote cycles which, in the conservative limit, are saddles.
